Is it up or is it down?
I'd like to sincerely apologize if anyone tried to visit my blog, or any other Digital Empire site, and was not able to get to it.
For the past hour or so, I've gotten reports of the site being inaccessible sporadically. I have also seen this myself, as all of my equipment has been down for the past 15 or 20 minutes.
As you can see by this post, the issue seems to be resolved for the moment.
My current service provider is undergoing a management change, and is taking care of some long-standing issues, so hopefully these problems were a result of the firewall finally being set up properly.
My servers already ran great, but it was taking weeks to get any request through. I firmly hope (and expect) to receive better service going forward with the new owners.
Server Move Complete
I have finally completed moving my servers around to a couple of different providers. This has served me very well so far. My sites are faster, several of my nameservers are on different providers/networks, and I'm even saving money!
Check blog.thedigitalempire.com for more details and additional site news.
DEblog Open for Business!
I have opened the DEblog over at The Digital Empire, and this site will allow me to keep everyone updated about everything happening within the Digital Empire network (basically everything I do).
This includes news and articles about such sites/services as:
- This one! (benmcclure.com/technologykills.com)
- PC GameSource
- SingularityShift
- Fallout Mod Sorter (FOMS)
- Fallout Games (Returning soon!)
- DigiPress
- And more!
If interested, please subscribe and/or bookmark the site so you can keep up on the latest DE news and happenings!
New PC GameSource Blog Up
I have opened a new site in the DE network--the PC GameSource Blog.
For now, this has replaced the official PC GameSource site, which has been under construction for far too long.
I will post articles (usually at least daily) regarding PC games, mods, game tools, developer news, and more. Already posted are articles regarding Wolfenstein, FOMS 2, and the Aion Open Beta.
Look for many more to come! Don't forget to leave your comments and suggestions on the site, and let me know if you have any issues.
Portland, the city of weirdness
Well, my girlfriend and I finished our move to Portland, OR. So far we're having a great time in the new house and exploring around the neighborhood.
Now that I'm back at work again, and actually working from the office, I'm anxious for the weekend to get here. I have a lot of work to finish up.
FOMS (The Fallout 3 Mod Sorter) is being rewritten, as I've said, and as a prerequisite I'm working on completing my DOM implementation in AutoHotKey. Expect that next week, and hopefully a new FOMS version shortly thereafter.
After that, and several other currently in-development AHK classes, hopefully my heavily-neglected SteamWin and SteamLab rewrites will be underway.
Look for more news about that soon.
New Wiki up on bmcclure.com
Good news to any of my old site readers; wiki.bmcclure.com is once again open, and I'm starting fresh to make sure only relevant (well, within reason) data is put there.
Check wiki.bmcclure.com to start digging in to my business.
PC GameSource officially re-opening soon!
I have decided to start up PC GameSource again at the old address (http://pcgamesource.com). It will be a completely new site, for anyone who had seen the old one several years ago.
The site will focus on PC gaming, and will initially just be run by myself. I will post reviews, articles, previews, links, news, and more.
I am very excited about this, and am looking forward to expressing my experiences, knowledge, and opinions about PC games and the PC gaming industry.
As many of you know, I am a PC game developer as well as a rapid PC gamer. I will also be covering PC games from a development perspective to try and offer a fresh look on a lot of today's games.
Bookmark the site, and let me know if you'd like to contribute!
SingularityShift is now online
SingularityShift, a new open-source development hub I have been working on, is now open for business (figuratively speaking)!
Please bookmark the URL - http://singularityshift.com
I am managing the site and all projects that are currently there as of this time.
The main site is an open wiki format allowing all users to contribute equally to the direction of the site.
Each project gets a full Trac development site and Subversion repository, as well as web space, email, advertising, and more.
Feel free to post your project to the Wiki and I can create the development resources for it!
Finally got my new blog up!
Yes, yes; I have finally put something potentially useful on my homepage, which has been a completely useless and crappy 1&1 Blog site for over a year now.
Starting now, I will be posting here about anything and everything.
Stuff about games, computers and technology, my music, writing, random notes, pissed off rages, and more...
Stay tuned!
