Can We Let the Internet Name More Things, Please?
For all the people who complain about the myriad problems that plague nearly every inch of the Internet, there’s one thing nobody can deny: When the collective Internet sets its mind to something, it knows how to get shit done.
Sometimes it just takes the right catalyst to bring people together. We’ve been blessed with such thoughtful, regal names as Boaty McBoatface and Trainy McTrainface, and I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s the ultimate case of “What did you expect?” followed by the realization that this is now a part of history forever.
The only way this could get any better is if it keeps happening. So as more and more people are building, inventing, and discovering things, I’m making an open call to our world’s leaders, scientists, explorers, businessmen, and other stiffs:
Got a new capital building you need help naming? Any restaurants not sure what to call their latest dinner masterpiece? Have you come up with a new missile design and want to garner some public favor? Have you discovered any new diseases lately that you don’t feel like naming after yourself?
Start up an open poll, and let’s do this! What could possibly go wrong?
